Welcome!!
to our journey and ever evolving movement ...
What's Happening Now...
Our mission is to break the silence and stigma around mental health and give a voice to those that live with a mental health condition. Also build an army of everyday people who can support and/or be a lifeline for all humans when faced with Mental Health challenges through education, resources and effective communication.
Our vision is to bring light to the epidemic of Suicide and stop the stigma around Mental Health. Mental health should be a normal everyday conversation and resources should be unlimited.
The Problem
Mental Health is the epidemic, suicide is the action that occurs from mental conditions, including but not limited to, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse, which are all risk factors. Or past traumatic experiences like child abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, rape, loss of a family member or any type of trauma throughout life can also be a huge factor. And we know there is not enough Mental Health facilities or providers to support the amount of people in need or suffering from a mental health condition. This lack of resources is causing people to attempt or complete the act of suicide due to feelings of being alone or not having another option. Our future and our past are dying by their own hands and the stigma that surrounds mental health needs to be eliminated.
Our Solution
BCC offers Mental Health classes and believes that educating the masses will help bring light to this epidemic and help save more lives. We also invite those that choose to share their story on our Who Is??... page the potential to begin the journey of healing. We have found a way to support those in need and those left behind through our monthly networking series. Through our annual International MHSA Film Festival, we open the conversation around the world about mental health and suicide and provide a safe space for these conversations. Lastly providing multiple opportunities to volunteer which has been shown to create a state of euphoria and releases the feel-good hormones like serotonin, oxytocin, endorphins, and dopamine, which is your happy juice. Volunteering is proven to reduce stress and increase feelings of self-worth and pride which in turn can help your mental state. We focus more on the Mental Health aspect which ultimately contributes to the prevention of suicide.
Opening our hearts, minds and mouths will help start to break down the walls of this stigma.
It is okay to not be okay!!
